Game Week 9 Tips – Part 2
Manchester United have had a sensational start to the 2017/18 campaign but much has been made of their relatively easy opening fixtures. The good news is that United have despatched teams by several goals in that time and having Huddersfield as opponents represents another chance at a relatively weaker opposing side.
Huddersfield looked sloppy against Swansea last week and whilst they were unlucky not to score themselves they did give away silly goals at the other end and this United side could expose any defensive frailties this weekend. A 4-0 hammering at home to Spurs will give the owners of Lukaku and co a much needed fresh hope after his dismal display against Liverpool and he could well be a captain pick this weekend.
We will be giving one more chance to Mkhitaryan who also looked less than average in that North West derby last Saturday and it goes without saying that you will want at least one United defensive option with Phil Jones still remaining as our top pick due to his low price.
Spurs Vs. Liverpool
It will be interesting to see how Spurs tackle this game after their impressive display against Real Madrid in this week and with Liverpool also putting in a mighty midweek performance it could be a high scoring game. We certainly don’t expect either side to enforce the same tactics we saw last weekend and Liverpool really do need to win this game which could leave them exposed at the back.
Spurs will be expected to go out and attack the Reds and although their home form has been less than inspiring we do fancy Kane to net one this weekend – that being said, tread very carefully if you are considering him as a captain pick.
Eriksen continues to provide excellent returns and Coutinho is another who is probably going to offer some consistency in the coming gameweeks. It could be time to drop Ben Davies as he is a major rotation risk now Danny Rose is back on the scene and there are some decent cut price alternatives elsewhere.
The Best of the Rest
We have all but given up on Arsenal for now, especially after they failed to put away Watford last week and Lacazette in particular is looking pretty blunt in front of goal. Morata started for Chelsea against Roma on Wednesday and looks a better pick at the price and although Everton are in poor form themselves they having conceded shed loads themselves.
Swansea look to have a decent run of games coming up with the exception of Arsenal next weekend and although Leicester might offer some sort of response in the wake of Craig Shakespeare’s sacking, it could be prudent to capitalise on some good fixtures at both ends. Abraham has been on our radar all season and it spiked hugely last weekend with a brace. At the other end, take your pick of Naughton (£4.6m) or Fernandez (£4.5m) as decent cheap defensive options.
West Ham start gameweek 9 off on Friday night with an 8pm fixture against Brighton and whilst the visitors have been fairly well organised so far this term we do fancy Antonio as a differential pick – although it will be hard to stomach the £7.5m price tag on his head. A 0.6% differential might just be able to tempt you though!
