With such good fixtures for three of the top sides this weekend it would be easy to think that the captain pick for gameweek 13 is a foregone conclusion, but with the most transferred in players week in, week out blanking week in and week out it is usually not such a simple choice.
Myself, JP and Quigliano discussed our captain choices at length on this week’s podcast extra time and it has to be said, a good case could be made for all of our suggestions.
But now we have all of the information going in to GW13, and given that the deadline is Friday as opposed to Saturday, we should now be able to make our top 3 captain picks. As always, the number one captain pick will not display unless you are logged in with your membership so be sure to log in – if you are not yet a member why not join and take advantage of our one time Black Friday deal which gives you a full 12 months access for a one time payment of £5.

Enough of the pre-amble already, lets get in to the tips…
GW13 Captain Pick No.3: Eden Hazard
and a further goal from the penalty spot in midweek Champions League action and we have well and truly sat up and taken notice of the Belgian again.
Liverpool may well have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 8 league games but this will be a very stern test as Chelsea look to have got back to their best after an early season wobble. Still selected by less than 6% of FPL managers, Hazard offers some serious differential and this Liverpool side looked decidedly shaky when they conceded 3 goals at Sevilla to capitulate a 3 goal lead.

This game should have goals in it and I am backing Chelsea and Hazard (who played just over 60 minutes on Wednesday) to bag a goal or two.
GW13 Captain Pick No.2: Romelu Lukaku
Probably the captain obvious this week given that he scored last week after scoring plenty for his country to break his goal drought. The one big concern is that Lukaku played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Basel and despite Jose shuffling his pack, he still had a very strong side out that failed to break down a stern Basel defence.
Brighton are the latest visitors to Old Trafford this weekend and they too could prove to be tough to break down as they will look to defend for large parts of the game. Lukaku will surely play from the start in that game but his game time could be cut short if United are winning comfortably, and if not he could cut a frustrated figure.
All that being said, we do think Lukaku has massive potential in game week 13 and it is one of those games where he could bully the opponents in to submission.
He will be very heavily captained in GW13 so if you are sitting pretty at the top there is little to lose by captaining him, if you need to catch up then it might pay to go with our number one pick.
