As we wake up to news on Tuesday morning of Alvaro Morata apparently being too tired to play in midweek (and a bit of a back injury), FPL managers will have plenty to consider in preparation for game week 17.
With one of the potential captain picks for GW17 out of action (with quite frankly the worst excuse ever given – tired… come on!!!) in truth it probably makes the captain choice easier than harder – but it does also mean that most managers will be looking in the same places for their armband selection.
We take a look at our top 3 captain picks with the number one selection being reserved for members. We will also be looking at the best Morata replacements for GW17 in the members section of the article.
Gameweek 17 Captain Pick No.3: Eden Hazard
Hazard disappointed at the weekend against West Ham and in truth this game might not be that much easier given the freezing temperatures and Huddersfield’s relatively good home form. But with Morata set to miss the game it will be down to Hazard to pick up his team and get a result.
If Chelsea can grab an early goal then it will change the approach of the home team and this game could be anything then with Hazard the most likely to profit.

This is not a Gary (as Quigliano would say) by any stretch but he is a very decent pick despite the away fixture. Chelsea have the second best away record in the league and have scored more goals on the road than at home this season so we have a good degree of confidence in this pick.
Gameweek 17 Captain Pick No.2: Philippe Coutinho
We considered dropping a Lukaku bomb in here but we just can’t have too much faith in him at the moment – that being said, it might pay to opt for a United player as they look to bounce back from the Man City game and will probably go out all guns blazing.
Instead we look to a player who was on our list of top captain picks last week in Coutinho. He started from the bench in GW16 meaning he will be fresh for this game. Klopp must learn from the disappointing derby result with Everton and will surely leave nothing to chance against West Brom.
If the visitors were still managed by Tony Pulis then we might not have looked to Coutinho or Liverpool at all, but with Alan Pardew at the helm there is less defensive solidity (no matter what the stats tell you) in this West Brom team and Liverpool could rip them to shreds with another high scoring game.
Firmino is also set to start again and the interlinking play with Coutinho is always better when he plays. Salah is the obvious choice in this game but we do fear for him being rested with Klopp having plenty of options in his position.
One way or another there is set to be some disappointment in this game, but Coutinho looks like a very solid option and has the ability to unlock a stubbornish West Brom rear guard.
