One week off from Premier League action and as usual it seems like an eternity. It is good to be back with the game week 28 captain picks and we have three crackers for you this week. As always, the top choice is reserved for members only so be sure to log in or sign up to get full access.

With Europa League and Champions League action dominating the midweek attentions of some of the top Premier League clubs this week it perhaps acts as a bit of a pre-cursor to what we can expect to see at the weekend in the domestic league. Man Utd were heavily criticised after a 0-0 draw in Sevilla, much of it coming down to the approach they took to the game rather than the result and it perhaps points to more of the same for their hosting of Chelsea on Sunday.

Arsenal will be taking on Man City for the second time in a week with the teams both competing in the League Cup final before battling for domestic honours on Thursday – if you choose a captain from either of these two sides then be prepared to wait and pray that your players come through the cup final unscathed.

With all of that being said, lets take a look at our top three choices for captain for GW28:

GW28 Captain Pick No.3: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The tact that you take this week will largely be down to your league position. With just 11 game weeks left to play (including this week) time is running out to cut your opponent’s lead down and so it could pay to go with differentials. Aubameyang with just over 5% ownership certainly offers plenty of differential and could fare well in this fixture.

The cup final might be a tighter affair but the league game promises to be open with City more able to afford a slip up than their rivals and this should make for an open and attacking game. City are pretty strong themselves but Arsenal’s home form has been pretty solid so far this season and Auba’s pace is capable of catching some of the City defenders out – particularly given how high they press up the pitch.

This is certainly not a gimme and their is plenty of risk involved. The fact that he hasn’t played in the Europa League game (as he isn’t allowed to) means he should be fresh for the cup and the league game and a goal or two is certainly not out of the question.

GW28 Captain Pick No.2: Sergio Aguero

8 goals in 4 Premier League games and 4 in the last one point to Aguero as being a very popular captain pick for gameweek 28. He has less ownership than the likes of Mo Salah and Harry Kane which mean he has somewhat more differential than those players and we are well aware of Arsenal’s defensive woes!

Where City are weak(ish) defensively they are super strong going forward and we see another good day in the offing for Sergio Aguero when he visits the Emirates on Thursday under the floodlights.

There is some risk involved here of course as we know how Pep likes to rotate and there is also the potential for injury – but Aguero could be about to increase his tally and if you have him and need to catch those above he is a serious contender for the armband.
