There has been a lot of talk this week on Twitter and YouTube about Mo Salah making FPL boring as he is an obvious captain choice week in week out. There are two sides to every story though and it is just this kind of form that makes Fantasy Premier League so exciting as there is bound to be a week when he underperforms and therefor giving a chance to those risking a differential pick.

With Liverpool playing Newcastle in game week 29 he is likely to be the most captained player of the week but there are plenty of other options as we head towards the weekend. Perhaps for the first time in a long time Man City might not have a player represented in our captain tips – or will they?

Let’s take a look at the top GW29 captain choices:

GW29 Captain Pick No.3: Aubameyang

We will know more after the Thursday evening game with Man City as to whether Auba can be a pest in the league and as much as we have had glimpses of his ability since his January arrival we are yet to be treated to a stellar points haul.

A game against Brighton and with Arsenal having a point to prove (and 3 points to earn) this could be a tough game for the hosts. Brighton have kept things pretty tight in their recent games but the last time they welcomed a top 6 club was Chelsea when they were battered 4-0.

Arsenal arguably carry a more potent attacking threat than Chelsea and this could be a similar scoreline if Arsenal can but their nerves at ease with a first half goal. There are a number of likely benefactors for the travelling side but Auba is surely the one who is most likely to score big here. Dismiss him at your peril.

GW29 Captain Pick No.2: Mo Salah

Liverpool have looked very sharp of late and with 4 goals in the Premier League preceded by five in the Champions League they will be licking their lips at the prospect of a struggling Newcastle side coming to town. Mo Salah is the man of the moment and he is probably the sensible pick this week, but if you do want that differential then you have to look elsewhere so we are giving the Egyptian second billing this week.

Five goals and two assists in his last four games is hard to get away from but that form has to end at some point. It is likely that he will continue his scoring form but we think our number one pick might just outdo him this week.

Liverpool only managed a 1-1 draw back in October when these two met and it was Coutinho who was the difference that day. Newcastle will probably look to keep it tight again at Anfield and it is the degree of success they have with that that will dictate the result. If you choose Salah as captain then you can sleep soundly, but if you need the chance to claw points back then it could pay to look elsewhere this week!
