There may still be one game remaining from last week’s FPL action but we are already turning our attention to game week 29 as we look to kick March off with a bang!

We have already had the prelude to the final game of GW28 so it will be interesting to see how that one pans out and of course it will pay to bide your time with transfers this week just in case there are any injuries or suspensions to deal with following the game between Arsenal and Man City.

Spurs also have the small matter of an FA Cup replay against Rochdale at Wembley on Wednesday evening before the GW29 action kicks of between Burnley and Everton on Saturday lunchtime.

There are just two full game weeks before the GW31 blank so it also worth considering how you plan to navigate that week when making changes – our preferred option being to use the free hit chip which will allow you to play this week and next as usual.

Our Top GW29 Tips

With the exception of Chelsea who travel to Man City in gameweek 29, the fixtures look pretty favourable this week for most of the top teams and it is likely this will be a much higher scoring week than many managers saw last week.

Our top picks are as follows:

Leicester Vs. Bournemouth

Leicester are sitting pretty in 8th position in the league and whilst both of these sides have all but secured their number one objective of the season in securing Premier League safety, both sides are in pretty erratic form.

These two sides don’t keep too many clean sheets and it is likely there will be goals in this game. Jamie Vardy couldn’t continue his goal scoring streak against Stoke last week but is the firm favourite for goals in this fixture whilst Bournemouth have goal threats across the pitch with some decent budget options.

If you are concerned about Aguero’s game time with the Champions League becoming high on Man City’s priorities over the next few weeks then Vardy would be a pretty decent swap leaving cash to reinvest in midfield.

Spurs Vs. Huddersfield

Tottenham made hard work of despatching Crystal Palace last week and they have Rochdale to face between now and Saturday’s game with Huddersfield. They are a different proposition at Wembley with the wider pitch and Huddersfield will find it harder to stay compact and contain Spurs like they managed so well last week at the Hawthorns.

The usual suspects come in to play with Son being the one to perhaps drop down after a less prolific run of form. It will be interesting to see if Lucas comes in but it was Lamela who got the nod last week. Despite these two being available, it will be the usual suspects of Eriksen and Kane who carry the biggest threat.

Three clean sheets in the last four games looks like a streak set to continue here and Davies is the pick at £5.8m and who looks to be the number one choice at left back.

Liverpool Vs. Newcastle

This looks like the lambs going to slaughter with Liverpool being the ones carrying the fatal weaponry. Salah just continues to impress week by week and is surely a top captain choice for game week 29. Firmino likewise looks set to get in on the action and Mane also coming in to contention.

Can was the surprise package of GW29 with a goal and an assist and represents excellent value as a cheap midfielder at just £4.9m. That’s twice in the last four games that the German has registered a goal and an assist in the same game.

There isn’t much hope for the Magpies in this game!

Brighton Vs. Arsenal

If the Gunners get another spanking at the hands of Man City on Thursday then they could be heading in to this game with little confidence. Brighton aren’t safe yet and will fancy their chances against a potentially wounded Arsene Wenger side in this Super Sunday clash.

This is one to re-assess later in the week but if Arsenal do somehow get a decent result against Man City this week it could be one to stock up on.

Man City Vs. Chelsea

Man City can beat anyone on their day and if their city neighbours can put two past the current Champions then so can this years champions. Chelsea will most likely try and play a solid game at the Emirates but that could be fatal and we see a comfortable City win here.

If Aguero plays then he is on fire right now whereas the usuals in behind him are likely to also be a key threat.

Crystal Palace Vs. Man Utd

A spirited display by Man Utd saw them clinch a crucial 2-1 win over Chelsea last week and that could be a turning point in their season. It saw them re-take 2nd spot in the league from Liverpool and sent out a clear message to the chasing pack.

Spurs found this fixture tough last week and we expect United to also find this game tough going. Lukaku has certainly found some sparkle again and given how he tends to score in gluts could well be a top option for the next few weeks. With Liverpool up next after this game there is plenty of motivation for the former Everton striker and at £11.2m is pretty decent value.

Best of the Rest

Watford face West Brom this week who look all but done in the Premier League and a clean sheet is more than possible after their solid 1-0 win over Everton last week. West Ham could certainly do with a victory after a poor display at Liverpool last week and will find an away trip to Swansea an easier task and Arnautovic carries the biggest threat.

Shaqiri at Stoke continues to add to his season goal tally and has 3 in 3 for the Potters. A trip to Southampton should bode well and with Stoke having a game in GW31 he could be highly valuable over the next few weeks at least.
