If last week proved anything it was the importance of getting the captain pick right as often as possible. Of course there is always an element of luck involved (especially if you change your captain on a weekly basis) but one thing that FPL teaches us time and time again is that the quality players perform consistently over the course of the season.

There is no substitute for class.

As we look ahead to our game week 3 captain tips, it is worth reminding ourselves once again that in picking Aguero last week you would have picked up 40 points. If you triple captained him (like our old podcast pundit JP did) then you would be basking in the glory of 60 points!

So far this season we are on top form with our captain picks and we are looking to continue the trend in to GW3. We have three selections for you (top two are for members only so be sure to be logged in to view them).

GW3 Captain Pick No.3: Aubameyang (vs. West Ham)

Arsenal may well be winless so far this season but they have had arguably the toughest opening fixtures of any team in the division. They face West Ham at home in GW3, a team that has also tasted defeat in both of their first two fixtures but Arsenal have showed enough going forwards to think they will clean up here.

Aubameyang hasn’t shown much in his first two games and should have scored against Chelsea. The Arsenal striker was excellent after for Arsenal last season though after joining in January and there is every reason to believe he will start firing very soon. We are backing him to score at least one against West Ham and we think that this will be a tasty affair with plenty of goal mouth action. If Arsenal don’t score at least three here it will be quite surprising. It is must win for the Gunners and Auba needs to step up – we are sure he will.
