As the Fantasy Premier League community prepares its teams for the penultimate week of the season we take a look at who to captain in game week 37. Rather unsurprisingly, the most transfers ahead of GW37 involve Spurs, Man City and Man Utd.
Perhaps the most surprising is that no Arsenal player makes it in to the top 20 most transferred in players this week despite them having two games. With Arsenal crashing out of Europe on Thursday night it will be left to their remaining three games to give Arsene Wenger a good send off and so they could yet end the season strongly with three very winnable games.
Game Week 37 Captain
We take a look at our top three captain choices after another hat-trick of top selections last week.
GW37 Captain Pick No.3: Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling has been one of the most improved players under Pep Guardiola and whilst it remains to be seen whether England can benefit from this at the World Cup next month it does mean that this double game week represents yet another chance for the city player to add to his already impressive tally.
He has featured in our captaincy tips for the last two weeks and after three gameweeks in a row scoring double figures we are more than happy to give him the armband again with two home games. Fixtures against Huddersfield and Brighton represent a fantastic chance for the England man to get a bumper week and if the last two games were a DGW he would have scored you 46 points – I think we would all take that now if we could.
GW37 Captain Pick No.2: Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus is enjoying his most consistent spell of the campaign and has benefitted from Sergio Aguero’s injury no end. Three goals in three games is a decent return for the young Brazilian who has also registered two assists in those last few games.
The only downside to choosing Jesus or Sterling is the prospect of rotation or complacency. The latter should not be an issue but the rotation is a concern in a week that sees 3 games in a week.
There is no doubt that these fixtures should return points for Jesus and Sterling and Jesus gets the nod over Sterling as he is more likely to start both games – but there is a risk in going with a player in a team that has little to play for.
GW37 Captain Pick No.1: Harry Kane
Our number one pick this week is the one that will be the most popular… it is of course Harry Kane. Spurs are pretty much a win and a draw away from Champions League qualification and they should see that out this week with games against Newcastle and West Brom.
The West Brom game should be the more difficult as they have to win to give them any hope of staying in the league and although that is highly unlikely they will be tough opponents here. Newcastle at Wembley should be a better game and one that Spurs will need a result from regardless of the outcome in the West Brom game and Kane will play in both barring any kind of injury.
The England striker has not looked great since coming back from injury but he did register a goal last weekend and he has form in GW37 from previous seasons. Last season he registered 5 goals and whilst we don’t see that happening this week we are hopeful of 2 or 3 at least.
