With Man City failing to win last weekend as they visited Wolves there were plenty of disappointed FPL managers who had captained the likes of Aguero. Though more managers opted to stick with captain Salah than any other player and that could well be a feature we see in game week 4 and for many weeks to come. Whilst the Egyptian has not been explosive he has provided solid returns and will look to do so again this week as Liverpool visit Leicester.

We take a look at our top three Fantasy Premier League captain choices and will be looking to see where the biggest potential for points lies.

Game Week 4 Captain Pick No.3: Benjamin Mendy

Newcastle have not had the best run up to what will be their toughest game of the season. Not only were they lambasted for their low possession approach to their home game against Chelsea last weekend but they then had to play in midweek in the League Cup losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest. Man City may have been held at Wolves last time out but that will just mix this in to a deadly concoction of circumstances for Newcastle as City will look to blow Rafa Benitez’s side out of the water.

City have only kept one clean sheet out of their opening 3 games but we see this a good opportunity for them to show as much class at the back as going forwards. Benjamin Mendy has been a revelation for City this season and whilst we don’t often tip defenders as captain choices, this is one that plays like a winger and is in sublime form. With 4 assists in 3 games, Mendy’s play attracts bonus points even when he doesn’t register an assist and if City keep a clean sheet this weekend then he should be on for some decent points.

There won’t be many others captaining Mendy and he should be pretty rock solid in terms of first team selection so you should be safe from the Pep’s rotation axe.
